It’s a WRAP!

We had a long day Sunday and it was well worth it. Below is a copy & paste of the email we got from Jimmy.

I thought I would let everybody know that as of tonight, Feb. 21st, we have officially wrapped on principle photography for Tuckerman.

It was another long day with a complete re-write for one of the scenes.

When you have one cast member fall ill and can turn around and set up a completely different scene with a completely different feel, in a matter of a couple of hours, well, that’s independent filmmaking, and I’d like to say thanks, again, to Shelia for being so willing and flexible (pun intended, Shelia).

And thanks again to all of you. Never think your help in this project goes unappreciated.

Now we move on to a few guys setting in their dark offices or bedrooms putting our movie together.

It’ll take a bit, but I will keep you informed. If you start to get curious on how it’s going though, feel free to let me know.

I can’t say thank you enough for your work and patience, but I will say it once more.

Arkansas Talent Conversations

Jimmy and I spent yesterday afternoon with Kevin and Kat Yares out at LoGap Media where the podcast Arkansas Talent Conversations is recorded. Nice place and they have a nice little studio set up. We recorded a couple interviews for the podcast. Kevin is an amazing interviewer. I, on the other hand, provided a lot of dead air. Jimmy of course did good.

Kevin and Kat are really good people. We hung out and visited for a long time. Gerry Bruno stopped by for a while and we got to talk with him too. You know, the creative community has a lot of really kool people in it.

Next week Kelly Griffin will be on the Arkansas Talent Conversations. Kelly is an amazing guy. He’s an accomplished musician (Wishtribe Ya!), web, graphics, fx, video, well you name it. He has helped on both The Devil and Tuckerman. I’m looking forward to listening to his interview. I’m sure it will be an interesting podcast that you don’t want to miss.

Winter Filming

No filming this weekend on the Tuckerman movie. Winter has made us shift into first gear as far as shooting goes. Next weekend we plan on shooting the last indoors scenes and I think Jett is going to call it a wrap. We will still need to get some outdoors b-roll but will not need to shoot anymore actors. Since the movie is set in the summer, we’ll bet our b-roll after everything turns green again. Maybe the editors will be looking for it by then.

Changed the trailer on the The devil lives in Hot Springs website again. A couple of weeks ago I thought that maybe using a video from YouTube might be better, but it was not. Now we have one of the old ones back up there.

Little Rock Library

Wanted to pass this along ’cause I thought it was cool. The copy of our movie that was purchased by the Little Rock Main Library has been checked out 80 times. That’s right. 80.

Tuckerman Update

Just a quick note to say that the production is coming along. I won’t say smoothly because I’m not sure if productions ever run smoothly when you take on an independent project. However, we are getting it done. To the point of only having three more days of shooting to go. To get these three days, it’ll take well into January, but hopefully we’ll knock the shots out relatively quickly and move on to be fully enveloped in post production.

I’ve posted a few “behind the scenes” images on the photos/stills page if you want to take a look.

Scoutin Trip

We went on a scouting trip this weekend. Months ago we planned to start shooting on the first weekend in June. It was looking like we would not get our first shot for the movie untill next weekend, but as luck would have it, we found the perfect dead animal in the middle of the road on our way back from looking at a bridge. Since they are not letting me play with the big boys camera in this movie, I brought along my little camera, and shot some video of the guys getting an important shot for the movie. Guerilla style even.

Tuckerman Update

Been a while since the last update, and I apologize for that. Don’t think we haven’t been doing anything though. We have been busy scouting, calling, planning, meeting, and today we had our final auditions.

Yep, we finally have all the actors we need to shoot Tuckerman, and the shooting starts next Saturday. We had decided in our production meeting this afternoon that we would start shooting even if we did not get all the actors we were looking for. We have a lot of stuff to shoot and a short time to get it done, and we had enough actors to get some of the parts shot, so we were going to run on faith that we would find the right people to play the parts. As fate would have it, everything has been working out nicely.

Thank you very very much to all the people that came to the auditions, and especially to the parents that support their chidlrens dreams of acting. It takes a lot of courage to audition for a part in a movie, even for the experienced actors. Almost everyone that auditioned for Tuckerman, had never auditioned before, didn’t know what to expect, bravely walked out in front of the camera, and gave it their best shot. Everyone did such a good job that the selection process was very difficult. Lots of times we would say something like, “Oh that was so good, if we could just write in a part, …”, but that would change the story. Tuckerman is a good story. I’m anxious to see it told.

Jimmy is going to be calling folks, he’s probably called some already. We would like to have a get-together soon so everybody can meet each other. I know it’s a little out of order to start shooting before we have the get-together, but hey, we’re guerillas.

Today we paid off the last financial investor of The devil lives in Hot Springs. I’ve been stoked since selling that DVD last night. Jett and I appreciate the time and effort that everyone put into The Devil, and you all know how much we have been looking forward to sending out those royalty checks.

Callbacks & Second Audition

The call backs and the second audition is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd at the Little Rock Main Library (same place as before), and this time we’re in the East Room, which is on the main floor in the rear (apparently we were a tad too loud for the upstairs).
The call back portion is scheduled for 2:00 so Tony and I can give some quick information, answer any questions that you may have, and then do follow-up scenes with some of the actors.
We were very pleased with the auditions that we got from everyone, and now we have to match up actors and characters.

At 3:30 we’ll start the auditions for the parts not filled yet and any new folks that want to have a little audition footage in the database.
